This illustration was inspired by my own garden and a wonderful garden on the Isle of Mull called Lip na Cloiche. The owner, Lucy, has created a magical seaside themed garden full of beach finds. The planting and creative touches are truly inspirational.

JANICE’S STORIES BEHIND THE PAINTING
1. I have fond memories of my childhood and the beach hut we had for our seaside holidays. We used it to prepare and eat lunch and snacks and change into our swimming costumes for a refreshing dip in the sea.
2. Adorning my own garden are pieces of my hand painted china and porcelain. Great plant containers.
3. I am always on the lookout for unusual artefacts to feature in my garden. I have old sinks, a vintage paraffin stove, kitchen scales and chimney pots that once stood proud on top of the elegant houses in Harrow. My beach finds include seashells, driftwood and old bottles.
4. I cannot praise the RNLI enough, they really do a tremendous job. As this jigsaw puzzle is released in the year that the RNLI celebrates 200 years of service it seems a fitting tribute to them and their work.
